Ghosts in Belmont House
Ghosts in Belmont House
There are many stories about ghosts in Belmont. It is supposed to be haunted by three ghosts.
A man wearing a long black coat appears near the old ballroom or on the stairs. A cook saw him about 5 years ago at the top of the stairs. Our secretary Denise told us that she had seen the ghost last term in the hallway near the canteen. A black figure appeared before her and faded into the wall.
The second ghost is a woman. She does not appear but you can hear her crying during the night. She is supposed to be the mother of a servant in the house. Her son broke a cup and the master of the house took him outside and shot him. His mother then put a curse on the Macky family saying that they would never die peacefully. She can be heard at the back of the house where the servants used to sleep.
When we used to have a live in matron and boarders they heard the woman often and they were frightened. She only cries when one of the Macky descendants is about to die.
The third ghost is a young girl and she appears in the front room upstairs near where the staff room is now. A few years ago some of the pupils saw her looking out of the window on to the front lawn.
