Driveway

The original entrance to the house began on the Culmore Rd. The pillars are still there today at the entrance to Belmont Drive.

The driveway is now gone but we traced the route  from Belmont Drive and climbed through some weeds and bushes to follow the path to Belmont House.

We discovered a raised mound on the front lawn which marked the old drive. We did some excavating and found gravel under the grass which would have been used to cover the path. We marked out the line of the old driveway with string.

The horse and carriage would have  been driven up the driveway around the area in front of the house (where the car park is now) and dropped the people off at the front door.

Our assembly hall is the old coach house. We can see the red brick of the original walls above the glass doors. The horses were kept where our shed is now in the playground.
