ABC Teach	This site loads quickly and is user and printer friendly. It has sections for children, teachers and parents.It contains a vast amount of resources and is neatly divided into sections. It has a good selection of fonts although one drawback would be the American version of spelling.

Adream- Schools Portal	The Adream project , partly funded by the EU is a portal for all N.Ireland Schools. Every school has been given a web area and it is interesting to look up local schools and see what they are up to. Belmont has its own area on the site with some of our work uploaded . There is also a link there to our main website . So check it all out , just type our schools name in the search window.

Alfy	Good site for the wee ones

Ambleside Primary School	Suitable for Key Stage 1 and 2. An interesting web site that has been set up and maintained by Ambleside Primary School (England). It has many features covering all school subjects. The English area is particularly worth a visit. The site provides a free collection of lesson ideas designed for Primary teachers using the Internet in class. Each lesson comes with details of the context, Internet links and resources required as well as details of any Internet related skills that are involved or can be developed. Before being posted, each lesson has been successfully carried out by the staff of Ambelside Primary School. Examples include: Create and interactive multimedia storybook Teddy Bear exchange, e-mail diary project for younger children , Call my Bluff, Create an interactive game

Anti Bully	Suitable for KS2 pupils. A graphic site that covers all common forms of bullying, such as theft drugs trouble in, before and after school. What to do if nobody listens and telling the police are included. The emphasis is on hard facts and practical advice.

Anti- Bullying Network	Suitable for KS1/2 teachers & KS2 pupils. News, competitions, feedback and tips. Pages for young people inform and advise teachers' pages cover praise and reward systems and kinds of bullying. Advice to parents .

Art History Network	Suitable for KS2 teachers & pupils. Like the previous site, this lists famous artists, although it is not as comprehensive. The biographies are difficult for children to read but they will enjoy the high quality reproductions.

Art Teaching	This site is useful for Primary and Secondary Student galleries, lesson plans, art terminology and project ideas are also included. There are numerous links to Art Galleries, History of art reference sites, Art Colleges etc. There are links to all Examination Boards with syllabus information and assessment criteria. Project planners, Art Terminology, National Curriculum and Exemplar material for GCSE, A/S, and A2 Level are also contained within the site.

Basketball Interactive	Aimed at: KS1 and early KS2. The mental arithmetic practice - rounding up and down and sums - at this US site is basic but compelling. An animated basketball player celebrates a correct answer.

BBC	BBC's excellent site for schools is one of the best sites around for children. to explore .It has lnks to many programmes used in the Primary classroom. Not to be missed.

BBC Childrens Lunchbox ideas	Great BBC site with information on what should be in your child's lunchbox

BECTA	Becta is the Government's lead agency for ICT in education. It supports the UK Government and national organisations in the use and development of ICT in education to raise standards, widen access, improve skills and encourage effective management. An excellent souce of practical advice and support for teachers.

Becta Senco forum	This web page gives access to VTC educational conferencing areas, which allow you to join electronic discussion groups. The special need area includes the senco-forum. You must register before you can contribute or read archived messages. You will need an email address for this.

Bullying Online	Suitable for KS1/2 teachers & KS2 pupils. Substantial site offers practical advice, tips from former bullies, ideas for combating bullying and help for school projects on the subject. The details on racist bullying could be topical in many schools, given the international situation.

C2K	The C2K website has some useful information on our new system including help sheets on the software titles we are using . There is also a section on good practice in ICT and of course Belmont is featured.

C4 Book box	Find out more about your favourite authors, poets , illustrators and their books. See and hear them on line . Pick up some of their writing tips too.

Cbeebies	BBC's excellent site for young children . Links to teletubbies, Bob the bullder, Pingu, Fireman Sam and may more . Highly recommended

Channel 4 Learning	A superb site similar to BBC education. It has a comprehensive bank of information,resources and activities on all curriculum areas Primary and Secondary. Wonderful

Circle Time	Suitable for KS1/2 teachers. Jenny Mosley's site shows how Quality Circle Time can incorporate a positive behaviour-management system with personal and social education. The FAQ section answers many questions and provides contact details for arranging a training course. The site reminds us that Circle Time shouldn't be initiated only if there is a problem.

Clicker4 ( Learning Grids)	This site contains FREE high-quality resources for Clicker, Wordbar and ClozePro. You can use them as they are, or modify them to suit your needs.

Fox Kids	The popular kids TV Channel website. Games and activities based on your favourite programmes . You need to download shockwave first so be patient on your first visit.

French site	A great website with activities to help pupils aged about 6 to 11 learn and revise their French. Includes worksheets ang games

Funbrain	Another great site for children parents and teachers. There are educational games graded according to age and sorted into subject areas. There are quizzes which the teacher can control and can post to the pupils page. The teacher can personalise the pupil's web page and activites. Well worth a look

Funschool	Funschool makes learning fun. The site offers more than 300 interactive games and activities for preschool to upper Primary that are fun, easy-to-use, educational activities ranging from matching numbers and shapes for pre-schoolers, to geography, math and history for older children. Although activities are designed to be entertaining, they are intended to communicate educational concepts in an effective manner. Graphics, animation, and sound are not the focus of the activities, but are there to support the academic content being presented.

Galaxy H	Another good website with health information for 7-11 year olds.

Gayles Pre- school site	American site. Preschool education activities and early childhood education lesson plans that give preschool children choices. Ideas for pre-k and kindergarten teachers that enrich classroom curriculum are arranged by theme. Plus easy at home fun learning games.

Getty	Suitable for KS1/2 teachers. Lesson plans can be sorted by age group and offer more helpful links for a series of lessons around one theme, such as Space Art. A useful US site.

Go get it (Careers )	Visit Go Get It and discover the skills you need to get the job you want. Explore the world of work, do the fun quizzes, play the virtual interview and career path games or find out how to get work in NI.

How Stuff Works	An interesting site suitable for researching science projects. There are 22 sections covering everything from toasters to lungs to microprocessors. The articles explain in detail how these things work.This would suit our secondary pupils.

Irish Potato Famine	Simple kids site based on life in Ireland at the time of the Famine.

It all adds up	Aimed at: parents. Ideas for parents who want to help children practise arithmetic and numeracy outside school. Relate to areas such as shopping, time zones on holiday, football tables and bathroom scales.

It's Up to You	A fully interactive site aimed at 7 - 9 year olds that helps promote a healthy lifestyle. The activities offered on the site will give children a better understanding of the importance of food and exercise and the impact they have on the body.

Kid's Bible Stories	Colourful site with all the well known bible stories. Also has a quiz. Recommended by Mrs. Mallon .

Kidscape	Suitable for KS1/2 teachers. This site is intended for children but the text size is too small and the vocabulary unsuitable. However, the material for teachers includes useful tips for dealing with incidents .

Ladybird Books	This site has stories galore for KS1 children. These stories are varied and an adult or older child could read and share them with a younger child. In addition to these stories there is also a story of the day which is suitable for all young children. Nursery rhymes are also read to the children and it is possible to print off the pictures and rhymes for colouring in. The count and ride game is an excellent activity for the younger children, enabling them to further develop their knowledge of money.

Learning Difficulties online	American site full of information on learning disabilites for parents teachers and other professionals.

MagNet	Aimed at: KS1 An online maths magazine for 4-7s, MagNet uses colouring, bugs and a space hopscotch game to practise counting, odd and even numbers and multiplication. Highly entertaining.

MAPE	Great site supporting effective use of ICT in Primary Education.Contains curriculum ideas and resources, software , hardware and book reviews, links. Well worth a look.

NASEN	The National Association for Special Educational Needs website. Contains information about membership, local branches, events, NASEN policies and publications.

National Autistic Society	The National Autistic Society website. Contains information about autistic spectrum disorders, details about membership of the NAS, local branches, events, resources and publications. Includes links to other sites. You can register your email address and receive free monthly bulletins.

National Curriculum On Line	This site links every National Curriculum programme of study( for England but very similar to ours ) requirement to resources on the Curriculum Online. It also has Information about the National Curriculum from the teacher handbooks. Numeracy Activities	Aimed at: KS1 onwards. Dozens of animated Flash games for different levels most KS2 pupils will find the Archimedes bath activity too hard, but the simple counting games and Splat! (estimating angles) will all be appreciated by primary pupils.

Teaching Money	A sister site of teaching time and teaching tables . Great variety of activities. Unfortunately for some unknown reason access is sometimes denied to this site on C2 K workstations.

Teaching Tables	This website comes highly recommended by Carol Woodrow ICT Co-ordinator and Yr7/8.teacher . It teaches tables in a fun way and has produced great results in her class.

Three-Five years	Recommended by K.Burns , this is an award wining website for Nursery and Key stage 1 pupils. Today and Yesterday	An off-shoot of the Today and Yesterday radio series, T&Y Kids invites pupils to try out a range of interactive activities. Check constellations, investigate body parts and what they do, or take a trip to see what Island Life is like for young children. N.Ireland based.

Top Marks	Great site with links to a wealth of great educational activities for pupils many suitable for use with Interactive Whiteboards

Topmarks	Topmarks is an excellent site aimed specifically at pupils, teachers and parents. It links to a wide variety of useful education sites covering all subjects. All sites featuring on Topmarks are carefully reviewed by teachers. They are also regularly re-checked because of the changing nature of the Web.

Wordsearch Factory	Highly recommended. A website designed to help teachers create professional looking customised word searches. You can choose from a wide variety of grid sizes and word orientations. Suitable for all age groups. You must download the program on to your hard disk Wordearches are free. The site also included other Literacy and Maths worksheet downloads for $30 each. You can use them on a trial basis( 20 times) before purchase.

Young At Art	Young at Art Toolbox offers a selection of step-by-step workshops in a number of art forms written by experienced artists and facilitators, with advisory support from education professionals.
