Hello, Mrs. Jane Bryce and Ms. Imelda Mallon and any student that would remember me. I was there eight years ago and I know the children I knew are probably not children anymore. You are teenagers/young adults doing the great things that we all knew you could do. Hi everybody wats da craic 3 weeks until i leave for good

On behalf of myself and my husband Michael, I would like to thank the staff of Belmont House School for the hard work and kindness directed toward our son Malachy over the past year.

I promised Ms. Imelda Mallon I would comment on the wonderful last three months I spent at Belmont House when I got back to the states. Many thanks to Principal McCully for his warm welcome to the school, Dia duit! Also to the classroom of p4/5 with teachers Ms. McCauley & Ms. Wilson, I had a wonderful time in your class and miss you all very much. My time at Belmont Campus was short but it's an experience I will remember for the rest of my life and has inspired me to dedicate my life to becoming a teacher and role model to children as much as you all have. I'll try my best, at least. Thank you also to all the rest of the staff and assistants who also made me feel welcome and good luck to all the students on placement. I will keep in touch. Slan.

Spent a few enjoyable hours at Belmont House on Tuesday 22nd May 2007 with Jane Bryce and the nursery staff presenting them with a Walkodile they won in a competition.

Cannot praise Jane and the staff highly enough - they made me so welcome having travelled a long way from NE Scotland. The children were also fantastic.

Plus they all loved Walkodile!

Lots of admiration for the dedicated & professional way they approach their work.

Hello "Our Angels" we just had a look at all the wonderful
comments and drawings on the Magic Finger. What a lovely surprise to see
our picture in there. You are just the best.. Our wish was exactly the

Hello Pupils and Staff at Belmont House,

I was very impressed by your website and how you are putting your school on the internet map all over the world.

I am particularly interested in the History of Belmont House.

I believe that you are only almost right about the builder of The Big House. I believe that he was William Miller, my great-great-grandfather. According to a notice in one of the Londonderry newspapers, he died at his seat (that is, at his home) on 22 January 1834. He is buried in the churchyard at St. Columb's Cathedral, near the Courthouse wall, where you can see his gravestone. His widow, my great-great grandmother who had been Miss Catherine Croker and two of their children, Mary, the third daughter, and Captain Croker Miller, my great-grandfather, are also buried under the gravestone. According to records, Mary died at Bellmount aged 18 years in 1825. It is also on record that Catherine, eldest daughter of William Miller of Bellemoate (!!) married James Major of Foyle View in 1821. (I think that Bellemoate is a spelling error in the record). Perhaps the family lived in another house on the property before William built The Big House, just as you say, in 1833. Where did you find that information ?

William Miller who came from Moneymore, was Collector of Excise in Londonderry so I think it was another Miller who was a doctor and mayor of Londonderry - Miller is a very common name. There was a Doctor Joseph Ewing Miller in Londonderry and I think a Sir Francis Miller during the 1800's who may have been the Mayor.

After serving in the Army in New South Wales, India and Afghanistan, Captain Croker Miller retired and was living at Shipquay St. in Londonderry when he died. There is a plaque to his memory on the wall inside the Cathedral. His family, including my grandfather, Rowley Croker Miller then emigrated to Australia.

In turn, I came to live in Sweden many years ago, my wife being a Swedish lady - Mrs Bryce will tell you what a nice place Sweden is. I have been to Londonderry and visited Belmont 4 times over the years. On the first occasion, in 1953, I met some members of the Mackie family who were still living in The Big House.

Hello to our angels. Patsy and I just received your beautiful hand-made card. What a beautiful thing for you all to do for us. I don't think we have ever had such a lovely card. When we are sad we will take your card out and look at it and remember that Anne Marie is now a heavenly angel and she is looking after her daddy and mammy.
We opened our service for Anne Marie with your little prayer and Patsy sang "You Raise Me Up" at the communion part of the service. We thought of you all and knew you were praying for us.
We are going to be going up to our caravan next week for a few days. Please don't worry about us because we know our precious daughter is now in heaven with God and her Nanny and Granda and all her heavenly family.

Hello to you all. Patsy and I would like to say "Thank-You" to Mrs. Bryce, Shauneen, Jordan, Susannah, Jordan, Thomas, Terry, Ruairi, Ryan, Emmett and John for the beautiful St. Patrick's Day card that you made for us. What a very thoughtful thing for you all to do. We were so thrilled to open this big envelope stamped by Royal Mail and find your lovely card inside. We will treasure it.
We have been keeping ourselves up to date with what you have been doing by going into the Hampstead site......your poems are wonderful. I don't think I liked The Twits very much. I am still reading the Chronicles of Narnia. Jordan did you go outside to play in the snow when it came? Our snow is almost gone now and we are looking forward to getting outside and planting our garden.
If we ever get back to Northern Ireland I promise you all that we will come to Derry and visit you. In the meantime if any of you tune in to Hugo Duncan on Radio Foyle on Sunday afternoons at 2.00pm you will hear your class mentioned. Patsy and I say a special "Hello" to you all each and every Sunday.

Hi it is me Darryl. I'm getting on well with my work in the City Hotel. I've met some new friends and I work in the kitchen just what I always wanted to do. I enjoy working with food I do breakfast prep ready for the next morning. I also use the leisure centre in the city hotel. I use the gym to pump up some muscles after I work out I go for a swim to cool off. I hope to see you all later keep up the good work in the near future . Hello to you all, Patsy and I sent some pictures of the recent snow we had here in Ottawa. We had 20 centimetres of new snow and the only way I can really describe it to you is like this. If any of you have seen the movie The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe it is just like stepping out of the other side of the wardrobe. Wasn't that a brilliant movie. Two years ago this September my son Damien was given a very special chance of a place in Woodlands, a very limited and much sought after place, at the timeI was totally against it. After much soul searching about what would be best for Damien and still against it Damien started his first day in Woodlands. Next week at the end of almost two years,Damien is starting his intergration back to mainstream education. I would like tell any parent whose child has been given a chance this September to attend this school and may have the same doubts as i did, DON'T. DO NOT stop your child from attending this school because the last two years has changed Damien's life 100% for the better. Thanks is not enough for the staff, they have done a wonderful job. Hello once again from Ottawa in Canada. It's been a while since I wrote to you all. Patsy and I hope you all had a lovely St. Patrick's Day. Our snow is almost gone now. We had some very heavy snowfalls here over the winter. Now that Spring is here and it starting to warm up we are really looking forward to getting out with our little dog for walks. His name is Mac and he is a little Miniature Schnauzer. He is 3 years old. Once the weather warms up we will be going up to our caravan to spend the summer by the lake. Mac loves to be at the lake. We take him for bike rides in a little basket that we have attached on the front of Patsy's bike.
I will send a picture of Mac to Mrs. Bryce and maybe she can post it on your noticeboard.

I'm a senior teacher at Aberdeen School in Hamilton, which is in the North Island. All of the kiwikids are on holiday at the moment. Most of them are at the beach in tents.
Our school year starts on the 27th January. Once I have met my new class, I will show them your great school site and they will say hi too.

I hope this e-mail reaches the pupils and staff who welcomed some American visitors last week from Bluffton College, Ohio. Sally, Hans and Mervyn would like to thank all of the boys and girls and staff who made us feel so very welcome. We loved the warm welcome we received and we so enjoyed hearing the pupils sing for us at Assembly. Also we would like to thank the pupils and teachers who have our student Brandi Murray with them on placement for letting us visit their classroom and hear them sing! It was just great. Thank you as well to Mrs Mallon and Mr McCully for letting us visit the school and for all of their hospitality.

The pupils were a credit to the school in the way they explained how they had written about their favourite authors and transferred it to the website.
